Spanschachteln haben einen sehr lange Tradition, und finden auch heute noch vielfältig Verwendung, z.B. als Schmuckdose, Brillenetui oder auch Nähschachtel.
Diese langovale Spanschachtel besteht aus geräucherter Eiche. Der sanft abgerundete Deckel, sowie der Boden sind eingesetzt und mit Holznägeln fixiert, den Verschluss habe ich mit Birkenwurzel vernäht, die ich im Wald ausgegraben habe.
Die Schachtel wurde mit einem Muster verziert, das in der Wikingersiedlung Haithabu gefunden wurde, die Haithabuschachteln sind aber alle rund, aus Esche und kleiner.
Jede Spanschachtel ist einzigartig, keine wird wie die andere.
