Spanschachteln haben einen sehr lange Tradition, und finden auch heute noch vielfältig Verwendung, z.B. als Schmuckdose, oder auch Nähschachtel.
Diese runde Spanschachtel wurde nach einem Fragment aus der Wikingersiedlung Haithabu in Eiche gearbeitet. Der Wandunggsspan entspricht in Gestaltung und Größe dem Fragment.
Die originale Schachtel wurde ohne Deckel gefunden, dieser ist frei von mir mit einem passenden Muster verziert worden
Deckel und Boden sind eingesetzt und mit Holznägeln fixiert, nicht verleimt, den Verschluss habe ich mit Birkenwurzel vernäht, die ich im Wald ausgegraben habe. Die Schachtel wurde dann geräuchert und ist nun von dunkel braunem Ton.
Jede Spanschachtel ist einzigartig, keine wird wie die andere.

This round box was made based on a fragment from the Viking settlement of Haithabu.
The wall chip corresponds to the fragment in design and size.
The original box was found without a lid, which I decorated with a matching pattern.
It is made of oak. Lid and bottom are both fixed with wooden nails, not glued.
The braiding I`ve made of birch roots, I harvest here in the forrest.
The box is smoked and got a dark brown color.
every box is unique, they always look slightly different..
